Owned by Jack Mitchell and Croydon Misseldine, Waste! Store, is a hub for a cycle of varied exhibitions under the umbrella of fashion and print. Based in Hackney, London, it is a space for friends, family and any emerging artists to showcase their craft in ways that are personal to themselves, creating a unique, ever-changing community of visual language. Mitchell and Misseldine’s love for DIY is what spearheaded this project, attracting and encouraging artists to create extravagant installations.
The duo wanted to push the boundaries of their practise, being graphic designers. Clutter and maximalism is heavily encouraged in this space. This passion project emerged from a post-Covid environment when a lot of creativity had resorted back to typical physical methods, bringing back that nostalgic, experimental atmosphere. The space achieves connectons between the prodcuts and their environment rather than just exhibiting something on a plain background, making It much more of a storytelling process. Over the time, it has become a space to “come and hang out” in and create a community on top of simply viewing art.
